Post Being a trucker"s wife is not easy at all.

I've been a trucker's wife for quite sometime now, and believe me it's not at all easy. At first when he started this over the road stuff I had it very hard, I would cry with him on the phone to come home, or get a local job. Well time has passed and now, it's like I feel so apart from him. I've gotten so use to him being out, and I can no longer shed anymore tears, all I have is anger and pain. When he comes home things are no longer like they use to be. I believe this over the road stuff breaks up marriages, it's not for married couples unless you like to be in the truck with your spouse, or your a truck driver yourself. Now, I'm so lost.. , I don't know if I should stay or leave this marriage. All I know is that this life is hard to live.

Hi Diamond,
I'm sorry to hear things are so bad for you. I've felt the same you do many, many times. Crying and begging him to come home and get a local job...., I've done the exact same thing. I haven't been at this very long so I can't offer a lot of words of wisdom. I can be here for you though, if you ever need someone to just listen. I have a hard time with all of this sometimes....it's hard raising our baby with him gone. But I think about how much he loves his job and that he wouldn't be happy with a 9 to 5...., and why he's doing this job. I can't speak for your hubby...but mine is doing this for a more stable financial standing later in life, and so I can stay at home with our son. I really do hope the days get better for you. I was really up set earlier this week, and someone on here suggested I have a heart to heart with mine and how I feel about it. You are right that it's a very hard life to live. It is, and most of the understanding has to come from us....the wives that stay at home waiting for them to come home. This industry definately isn't fair to the truckers wives. I hope everything works out for you..., just please before you think that leaving is your only option think about the reason you got with him to begin with. I'm sure it's because you fell in love with him. Just remember that feeling and it'll help you through those lonely nights. I hope everything works out for you. Email me anytime if you need an ear.

Hi Diamond,
I am sorry to hear how you feel about trucking, I guess the life of a truckers wife is not for everyone. I always found that it made me appreciate hom more than I would if he was home every night, but I do have my moments when I hate him being gone all the time.
Is it possible for you to go with him sometimes? Or do you hate it so much that you don't want to? I hope you are doing better, anytime you want to talk you can pm me or email me, I will always listen, Alley

HI! SORRY THAT YOU FEEL THAT AWAY. MY HUSBAND JUST RECENTLEY STARTED TRUCKIN' ITS BEEN 6 MONTHS SINCE HE STARTED. I HATE IT BUT NOT LIKE I DID WHEN HE FIRST STARTED. I BEGGED HIM NOT TOO, THAT I WOULD WORK 2 JOBS IF I HAD TO. BUT HE KNEW WHAT HE HAD TO DO. I CRIED MORNING, NOON AND NIGHT. SO DEPRESSED I MADE MYSELF SICK. ITS A LITTLE EASIER NOW, I GUESS I'M KIND OF GETTING USE TO IT. DON'T TAKE ME WRONG I STILL HAVE MY MOMENTS. IF ANYBODY HAS ANY ADVISE PLEASE TELL ME. I KNOW IT HAS TO GET EASIER.

idahopyscho is on a distinguished road
i hear ya on how hard it is to deal with this...it is difficult to deal with my husband being gone for weeks at a time...and to make matters worse we just recently moved to idaho and i dont know anybody here! no family or anything here. just me and our 2 kids. it gets very lonely and depressing all the time...you can only scrub the floors so many times you know? i mean of course i have my kids to spend my time with, but once they are asleep? ive done all the "do things you love to do, that should keep you occupied and the time will fly by" stuff...now what? i am glad that i heard about this board...even if i just get to vent sometimes (which i apologize now for). i am glad i am not the only one who feels this way...well i wish no one felt this way...but atleast i have a few people to relate to...
