My husband use to drive for them. He quite just as the teamsters were trying to get in. (1998 - 2000) He was out of the Brampton/ Bramlea yard. He use to be on the road for three weaks home for 1 weak. The pay at that time was 19 cents a mile for team or 25 cents a mile for single. He did alot of eastern sea board in the U.S. They did hire alot of inexperience drives in Ontario. He said the Quebec drives stayed alot longer then the Ontario drivers. On average he had approx. 1 or 2 layovers each time he went out. He only travelled once down to Texas and once to Alberta ( all on the same trip). The equipment was new and well looked after. Just becarefull when truck is in the shop at the head quaters and your sleeping in the truck, they forget about you at the end of the night and lock you in. (Happened to many times to remeber)
Now speaking from the wifes point of view. The dispatchers were usually friendly when I went to the yard, to pick him up. When I needed to get in touch with him all I did was call dispatch and he usually called within an hour. Messages were sent immedately. When he gets in I will ask him to post more info. |

Please remeber that those rates were from 1998 to 2000. When you started and would go up with time. My husband heard that the rates had gone up. They had been also paying a New York premium, and a couple of other bonuses. He had also told me when he left he was being paid approx. 32 cents mile single. All that I can remeber is that his cheques were approx $1500 to 2000 Cd every two weeks when he left.
He also said the equipment was 4 years old or newer. He believes over all at the time they were an O.K. company to work for (doing long haul). Yes they also have the B.S. just like every other company out there. He said that one bad thing about them is that they had nowhere for you to sleep except your truck when it was in the shop. When you needed to leave the yard (to go get food ect.) you had to get a gate pass to leave with the truck. The teams would get most of the west bound loads. If you have any question feel free to ask them, and I will do my best to get the answers He left them to go and become a car hauler with Allied Systems Canada. He is home almost every night now. ![]() |
