Husband is going OTR for the first time tomorrow
Hello all! After many, many years in the steel industry, my husband has recently switched careers and will be driving trucks... starting tomorrow. We're very lucky that he found a regional job right out of the gate and will not be gone for more than two nights at a time. I'm not necessarily worried about our time apart. In fact, I relish the thought of a few nights to myself each week to study, do side projects, etc. (Tho' I'm sure it will change and I'll get lonely soon.) My question is this... any advice to make his first time out easier? He's driven straight trucks, vans, etc., cross-country before, but never a semi. So, of course, he's a bit worried and apprehensive. I'm trying to think of whatever I can to make his trip a little easier - packed his food, his clothes, his toiletries, satellite radio, flashlight and cooler. What am I missing? I'd hate to think of him stuck on the east coast, his first night, really missing something.
