I am alsonew here

hubby juststarted driving with warner. his first trucking job. He is going to like it , i guess.
I am alittle down. as we live on a working farm. so I get to do the farming.
He is out with his memtor now. i guess he might be out a while. maybe 6 weeks , i don't know.
does anyone know how this works? How lonng are they out the first time? I know they have to get a certain amount of hours.
I hope the pay is good.
I really don't know much about it. and he doesn't either.
but one thing that has helped us, is cell phones, that we can talk any time back and forth , free, to our two phones. and we like that. It helps with the loneliness, i think . when he gets a minute, he calls, that is great. Helps me alot, and I think him too.

Hi Debi

Sounds like you are going to be busy. Cell phones are good, my partner and i spend a lot of time talking to each other on the phone, I don't know how gf/wives coped before though!!

Keep smiling, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

i'm not sure how things work when they are just starting out. my hubby has been driving off and on for the last 7 years. his mentor should be able to let him know about how long he'll be out before he gets home time cause if your hubby doesn't get home time then the mentor doesn't either and most usually try to get home as much as they can. it may seem kinda crappy that you have to do the farming but trust me, keeping busy is the best way to cope with him being gone. and you will probably come up with a "Honey do list" of things that you can't do that you need him to when he does come home. as for the pay, it is probably based on miles so the more he gets the more money he will make. as for the phones, trust me when i say they are a god send. my hubby and i are on the phone whenever possible. i talk to him alot about nothing sometimes. one thing is try not to stress him out about things that are going wrong at home as there is nothing he can do out there about it. it helps if they think/know that you have things under control while they are gone. hope this helps some.

Smile Hi Debi

I am currently a girl friend to a Truck Driver and I am also considering going through school to Drive Semi in hopes to see my boyfriend more .I did check into Werner and with that company you can choose to be with your mentor for 6 weeks and home a few days and then go back for 3 more weeks or take your full 9 weeks with a mentor .
I am also glad for a cell phone I at least get to talk to my boyfriend 5-6 times a day and yes at times it makes me miss him more but it helps to hear his voice and hear him tell me he loves me .
