Job Question

I have a friend that wants to get into truck driving, he has to go to school first, we have sent out several applications for pre hire every one has turned him down so far. he has a seven year old felony for criminal sexual conduct 2nd degree. My question is will he ever be able to get a job in the trucking industry, I would hate to see him waste his money on school and not be able to get a job. Any information is appreciated.

I think its pretty much rule of thumb, IF YOU CAN'T BE AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL JANITOR, THEN YOU CANNOT BE A TRUCK DRIVER!

BigDog, Good Morning,Your bud is not trying to be a janitor, they are trying to be a truck driver. There are companies out there that will hire just about anyone. The question will be what has this individual been doing since the conviction. A sexual charge like this can be as simple as grabbing someone in a bar or as serious as attempted rap. It depends on what they actually did to get charged. The best thing to do is call the company they are thinking about working for and be very up front with the company and see what they say. They can only say no. The other issue with working with a carrier that takes felons is that you wind up working for questionable companies, they often think because of the felony they believe they “own” the driver. If they really want to do this work keep looking. Regards Gunner
